What Causes Dizziness While Suffering From Hearing Loss?

Hi, and thanks. I'm 77 years old, in relatively good health. I have one hearing aid in the only ear I can hear through - my right one. Have had the aid for several years after losing the hearing in my left ear. In the last few days I have experienced dizziness, and occasionally, only occasionally, have a touch of vertigo. But it doesn't last but a few seconds after I focus on a single object in the room. About three hours ago, a sound appeared in my non-listening ear, the left. It's like air rushing. Of course I cannot hear in that ear, so putting my hand over it makes no difference. Any ideas of what to do?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

what the history you gave here and the symptoms stated here, could be suggestive of vestibular dysfunction, It is better to get done the CT head, if the deafness is there in one ear so it may some time produces the sound similar to air flowing or whistling, it is due to reflex phenomenon, in chronic case of deafness it is common phenomenon

Hope this information helps.
