What Causes Dizziness And Imbalance?

I have occasional dizziness or imbalance. I have a good diet although I smoke a lot. this happens very irregularly when I get up off the couch, or a couple of times while swimming and raise my head at the edge of the pool. I m 71 this month and generally in good health.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that you may have postural hypotension. This is a reduction in blood pressure on standing or moving from the lying/sitting position to a standing position.

There may also be a change in the pulse, this increases as the blood pressure decreases.
You can have this checked at your doctor's office.

There are different possible causes such as dehydration, side effect of medication, it can also be related the heart in some persons.

I hope this helps
