What Causes Chronic Headache?

Hi, I have a 17 year old daughter who has had headaches for three years now everyday all day. These headaches do get worse while doing homework especially with numbers the headache gets worse and numbers seem to float or reverse as headaches get worse. We have been through a lot of different medications and doctors including neurologists and acupuncture, chiropractors and eye doctors. She just had her second visual test which she failed again. The eye doctor said it shows that she is missing things in the front vortex I believe is what she said and does not know what this means just yet and said she has to do more research and do another visual field test in two weeks. This has got me worried and the fact that she is not sure has me even more worried. Any ideas?

Hello!

Thank you for asking on HCM! I understand your concern.

I would like to explain that these symptoms can be caused by a chronic migraine ( also called hemicrania continua), but also by a brain lesion.

The visual field involvement may be caused by a brain lesion like a tumor, an aneurysm, etc.

I would recommend you to consult with a neurologist for a careful physical examination for neurological signs and perform a brain CT scan or MRI , to exclude a possible brain lesion.

Hope to have been helpful!

Greetings! Dr. Aida
