What Causes Black Outs While Suffering From Diabetes?

My 78 year old mother keeps having episodes of blacking out. She has diabetes, but we checked her blood sugar and it was 228. This has been going on for some time now. She had a nuclear stress test, EKG,EEG, and an appointment with a ear, nose, and throat Doctor. All these tests produced no answers. When she has an episode it lasts off and on for a few minutes ar sometimes an hour or more. She grabs the right side of her head and groans in pain then goes out over and over. Any thoughts?

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

From your description, it appears that your mother could be having some pathology in the eyes, particularly with reference to retina. Kindly get her eyes checked by consulting Opthalmologist promptly, so that adequate measures can be advised to overcome and prevent the same. If there is no cause detected in the eyes or retina, then it could be due to transient ischemic attack, for which you need to consult Neurologist for evaluation.
