What Causes A Sudden Pain In The Head?

I cough so hard sometimes that I get this horrific pain that feel like something popped or burst in my head on the right side. it makes me feel stiff for a few moments and then as the pain subsides my body relaxes. The pain lasts about five-ten minutes. What is this?
