What Causes A Painful Lump On The Rib Age?

My son is worried about a painful knot below his left breast above his rib cage. Should we be worried. This vision-message is a witness pointing to what’s coming. It aches for the coming—it can hardly wait! And it doesn’t lie. If it seems slow in coming, wait. It’s on its way. It will come right on time.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
The commonest cause of painful lump on the rib cage is costochondritis.
This is inflammation of the rib particularly at the junction with the cartilage which allow it to have the floating.
Another reasons can be a sebaceous cyst, lipoma.
The best way is the local examination, X-ray by your Doctor to get the exact diagnosis and to get a proper treatment.
Till then start taking Ibuprofen in proper dosages.
Apply locally hot fomentation.
Give rest to the part.
