What Are The Complications Of Having Blood Clot In The Renal Artery?
My nephew received a crushing injury on 7.6.14 to his kidney and underwent an exploratory lap day before yest. which was 7.11.14. They d/c him from hosp yest. 7.12 and he is now going out partying AMA . They said he has a blood clot in his renal artery where they have inserted an umbrella of sorts. One person is saying he is out of the woods and another is saying he is not out of the woods. What do you feel about the seriousness of this is and if his outings could be detrimental to his wellbeing or possibility of complications.
After injuries like crush injury, endothelial layer of vessels are damaged. Therefore, arteries and veins suffered from trauma tend to be involved in thrombosis events.
Blood clot in renal artery is a serious situation, because if it is completely occluded; it will cause irreversible kidney damage if not removed. After removal (by thrombolytics or intervention), adequate antiagregant or anticoagulant support is mandatory for prophylaxis.
May you recover soon
