Hello, and thank you for writing in to HCM.
Yours is a problem, sadly found in many Indian households. The saddest part is that the husbands dont speak up. In such a case, you should be a little firm (without being rude) while speaking with your husband about this issue( I'm considering that you've already tried speaking lovingly as you said he's not doing anything about it). You've to tell him your problems and what kind of support you expect from him as well as your mother in law, both emotionally and otherwise. If you think it'll work, you could also say that if this continues you might have to leave working as its becoming too much to handle.
If you've that kind of a relationship with your mother in law, you could directly approach her too. Be polite but firm, and tell her whats bothering you and ask her for help and support in this. If the way you put your problems is right, chances are they might see your point.

All the best.
