Suggest Treatment For Severe Muscle Spasms
Sure. Thank you. My 60 y.o. wife has been taking Norco 5 325 mg 3-4 times a day for the past week. She s been suffering from severe muscle spasms on each side of her lower & middle spine areas. Also the urgent care doc gave her 5mg of Valium as a muscle relaxing effect (?). The pain is unpredictable & she is trying to stay ahead of it by spacing out the Norco but @ times has taken 2 @ once. please advise me as to her dosage . . . we are @ Mayo past two days doing testing for her multiple myeloma she has had since 2000. I asked the hematology Doctor for a referral to the spine clinic here but they cannot see her until Monday Oct. 27th. We a going back to Michigan tomorrow & Friday. Short of going to Mayo s E.R. tonight I was hopeful you may have some advise. I am concerned about the Norco. Thank you, Doc. Mick

Hello and thank you for your question. Muscle spasms can be very painful. Valium is a good muscle relaxant. Heating pads or warm compresses can also help relieve muscle spasms. Gentle stretches or physical therapy may also help. Drinking plenty of water and taking a multivitamin with magnesium and calcium can be relieve spasms also. You must talk to the prescribing doctor about dosing for the norco. She needs to take it only as prescribed unless she speaks to the doctor and they change the dose. I hope she is feeling better soon.
