Suggest Treatment For Severe Migraine Headache

My daughter has migraine headaches she goes to a migraine clinic in London. And is on a beta blocker for preventative cAre. She is down from 4 mogrInes to 1 a month but that 1 is terrible. She was throwing up for 4 hours and was in pain all night. She takes liquid Advil - whT else can or should she be doing ?

Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. Migraine is a vascular type of headache that occurs in episodes. The headache most of the times occurs in association with nausea, vomiting, blurred vision, photophobia etc. She is having recurring headache and is throwing up. Preventive medicines like Beta blockers can help to prevent episodes but if they fails to do work then other medicines are needed. Medicines like Amitriptyline or Nortriptyline etc can be used for severe migraine attacks. Sodium Valproate has been found to be useful in headache also. You can consult with her doctor for prescription of these drugs. For severe attacks Naproxen or Sumatriptan etc can be used. Please consult her doctor for prescription.

For some time ask her to avoid tea, coffee or carbonated drinks. She should sleep for at least 7 hours a day. While moving out she should use sunglasses.
