my husband 35 years old, suffering from some allergies and he is using the same prescription given 3 yrs back. Now i want to consult a doctor who can guide me whether we can still use same prescription or is it some other problem?. At present he is having a severe cough and looks to be weak and not eating like before. can u please help me out with what to do and what to follow?
I have gone through your query and can understand..
As per your complain excessive coughing can be due to a number of reasons like allergies, bronchitis, throat infection, asthma, acid reflux etc.. The cause can be confirmed only after a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations as per the cause suspected.. As of now you can give me cough suppressants containing Dexamethorphan, phenylephrine and Guaifenesin.. Doing steam inhalations, warm saline gargles and using a humidifier can help.. Suck on throat lozenges and sip on plenty of warm water.. Avoid spicy and chilled foods.. Stay away from the known allergens and prevent exposure to dust..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
