Welcome and thank you for asking!

I read carefully and appreciate the concern regarding to your mother's health.

Before deciding for a definite treatment, the hormonal level must be corrected with oral treatment (methimazole). In most of the cases it takes 6 months.

There are 2 options for definite treatment of toxic goiter;
- Surgical removal of thyroid
-Radioiodine treatment.

The second one is a good alternative for toxic multinodular goitre without side effects.
You may discuss with your treating doctor for this option.

Hope the information will help.

Kind regards,
Dr.Mirjeta
