Suggest Treatment For Lower Abdominal Pain While Urinating

My 15 yo daughter tested positive for leukocytes, but negative for nitrites. No fever, pain in lower abdominal region and with urination with urge to urinate frequently. Symptoms were more prevalent this morning, lessening during the day. My instinct is to have her drink water, take vit c and cranberry capsules, and see how she feels Sunday. Or, should I be more concerned?

Hello there thank You for contacting HCM

Well there are certain entities regarding Urinary Tract Infection in female patients, primarily two age groups the 10-15yr old age group and above 65yr old age groups are prone for this
There's another entity called asymptomatic bacteriuria which is particularly observed in Female (bacteria present in urine but sheldom causing any problems to the patient) importance of this entity is if its present, it puts certain category of patients under risk (patients with Diabetes/ immunocompromised / bed-ridden/elderly etc.)

Certain details are required for further advice like since when she's having these problems/when did you get her tested/is there a detailed urine routine & microscopy report available or did you just do dip-stick/when was the sample collected and how was it collected(by this what I mean is - the sample was the first stream or the midstream/taken at the end) and also is there any burning sensation while urinating plus how about her periods(are they regular/causing lower abdominal pain/cramps)

Well coming to your query , since your daughter is having symptoms and already tested, my advice would be to take her to your urologist and let the Dr take over from there .
Just to let you know that that the early morning urine is generally the most concentrated one (overnight) that's why tends to have maximum bacterial load hence causes more problems compared to other times of the day

No need to get too concerned but as always even simple uncomplicated ailments can get complicated over a period of time if delayed. So there's no point waiting and just check in with your urologist for a thorough check-up and this time get a Urine Routine microscopy done(if not done already) as well as a culture and Sensitivity

In the meanwhile its always better to maintain good hydration(drink plenty of water/fresh fruits instead of cranberry capsules are always welcome), hand hygiene(proper hand washing with a antibacterial soap and solution after coming out of washroom)
Let me know how things go later on , thanks again for contacting HCM
