Suggest Treatment For Inflammation Around Left Eye

i have inflammation around my left eye. It started yesterday evening on the corner of the eye and woke up today with inflammation all around the eye. I though it was a mosquito bite but it didn t itch and now my eye looks half the size of my other eye with all the inflammation. Could I be allergic to something.

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hello,

Yes, a sudden swelling in the eye without any pain or tenderness is most likely to be due to an allergy. The exact allergen may not know most of the times as it could be anything in the air such as pollen, dust or mites. You can take Tablet Zyrtec, 10 mg, 1 tablet once at bedtime for 4-5 days. Cool compresses will give symptomatic relief. If this treatment does give much relief then it is better to get the eye examined by an ophthalmologist for a close look.
