I have a 6yr grandson that was diagnosed with Hurlers Syndrome when he was 6 mths old and went through a stem cell transplant at 1yr old and was successful. He is now starting to have a lot of bone problems and I m want to see what childrens hospital specializes in Hurlers Syndrome. Any input would appreciated.. deborah

Hello dear,I think next you should try laronidase (Aldurazyme), commercialized by Genzyme. Enzyme replacement therapy has proven useful in reducing non-neurological symptoms and pain.Only Bone marrow transplantation and umbilical cord blood transplantation can be used as treatments for MPS. Abnormal physical characteristics, except for those affecting the skeleton and eyes, can be improved, and neurologic degeneration can often be halted. There is no too much searchings for MPS I.
I find this answer helpful

Note: For detailed guidance on genetic screening consult a genetics specialist
