Suggest Treatment For Headache, Rapid Heart Beat And Nausea

I am very worried about my 45 year old daughter. She has, within the last year, started having headaches, and has most recently been having further problems with rapid heartbeat and nausea. She has never had any of these issues before. Her doctor has tried 3 different medications which have all produced an increase of her heart racing. She has a good marriage and 2 children who are both A students in college and high school. She is the first to say that she has nothing to be anxious about. There are no drug or alcohol issues. She holds a difficult job in international trade, but has done this for 23 years. She is becoming afraid to drive. Where do we turn?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You did not tell if she has a past history of migraine or any other disease. however headaches can be due to a number of reasons like migraine, sinus problems, over-activity, long standing stress, missed meals, anxiety or lack of sufficient sleep. These can be ruled out by taking proper medication & stress relief with a little lifestyle change. Rapid heartbeat and nausea are symptoms that cause concern. Since she is in mid-forties she ought to have a thorough cardiac check up. She may not be having any heart problems now but it is better to have investigations done like ECG, lipid profile etc. She may need some medications or counseling on lifestyle and diet changes. Help her have a thorough health check up for better fitness & healthy lifestyle without delay.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
