Hello! If you are having trouble sleeping even on a pill, or you have effects the next day, you should try cognitive behavioral therapy. It conssists of different parts, but most important are sleep hygiene ( avoid useof caffeine and alcohol, comfortable sleeping environment without noises or other distractions like tv) and stimuli control therapy ( use of bed only for sleeping, go to bed only when you are sleepy and get out of bed if you don't fall asleep in 20 minutes from the moment you lyed down, avoid totally daily napping). When you lie down for sleeping you should try to relax and not think about failing of falling asleep. This technique may be long and tiring, won't give quick results like medications, but its effects last longer and it doesn't affect your concentration, vigilance and memory.
I hope i have been of help
