Suggest Treatment For A Painful Lump On The Hand

One yr ago a had a large cyst on the back of my left hand. It gradually got bigger with progressive pain. One day a had my husband smack the cyst with a large hardback book...the cyst went away. One yr later I am having moderate hand pain in both hands...more so in left hand.

Thanks for the query to HCM.I studied your problem in depth and I understood your concerns.
Treatment for the painful lump on the hand-In my opinion you should not be concerned much as it would resolve on its own with the time , but should investigate it with your ER Ortho-Surgeon,who would treat it according to its cause.
From your facts of the query-In my opinion-this lump seems to be due to the post-traumatic tissue damage of the Ganglion which arises from the joints of the back of the hand.
Occurrence of the pain in other hand after a year -may be due to the systemic cause which your ER-Ortho-Surgeon would investigate and treat accordingly.
So take treatment from your ER Ortho-Surgeon, who would treat it after due investigations and treat it accordingly.
This advise is based on the facts from the history you give and needs further clinical check.
Hence I would advise you to check with ER Ortho- Surgeon.
So don't build up wrong concepts and create more psychic complications in you which would increase risks and costs to you.
