Suggest Remedy For Dizziness And Blurred Vision

My father, age 88, had sudden dizziness since this morning.. Dizziness isn t there when he is sitting but when I took him to bed he said that things weren t right. Blurry but doesn t feel as bad as if he were on a carnival ride. No other sympyoms. Vital signs are normal. I took orthostats and they are fine, He is unable to walk without assistance and has to hang on to things to stay stable. There is a lot of pollen in the air so don t know if that would be attributing to his dizziness. What should I be thinking? I was going to go to the pharmacy and get some Bonine. Shoould I take him to the ER?

I am Dr Asanghanwa Carlson, sudden dizziness and blurred vision in an elder person can have many causes such as hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar), stroke, an emotional shock and some other neurogenerative disease. The stable vitals is not a guarantee all is normal as he could have some serious condition despite the stable vitals. I will advise you take him to the Emergency Unit for a proper examination by a medic so appropriate treatment is started. Good luck and wish him a quick recovery.
