Suggest Remedy For Choking While Eating And Drinking
Hi This question is for my mother 61 years old who has been on heart n BP medication for mora than 15 years.Since last 2 years she started choking due to food or water in wind pipe. Most of the time it was bcos she was talking while eating or drinking water.Recently she started choking due to saliva in wind pipe, sometimes during sleep.It becomes very dangerous situation n she cannot breath for those 5-10 seconds.Our family doctor advised her not to talk while eating or drinking but is there any treatment that can prevent this in future.She is slightly on the higher side of weight scale, will reducing weight help.Thanks in advance.

Reducing weight and diet life style changes are very important in treating this condition, usually those symptoms are due to esophageal regurgitate, stomach acidity going up the esophagus leading to this suffocation and coughing. Avoid oily food, and do not eat before going to bed minimum 3 hours, sleep with a high pillow. visit a a gastroenterologist for further proper management of your mother's complain.
