Suggest Medication For Migraine

I need all medications you would recommend for migraines. I have been using sumatriptan - 50 mg...to sub for Imitrex. I am unfortunately on sdi and need the most inexpensive medication. I normally obtain medications for around $4. I meet with my doctor tomorrow and try to aid her with my limited income; yet knowing I have to have a migraine medication not excedrin for migraines. Thank you.

Hi,

I understand your concerns. Sumatriptan can be replaced with other triptan group medicines as Rizatriptan.

Also, Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicines like Naproxen can be taken whenever there is severe pain.

In addition, You can take medicines for migraine prophylaxis as amitriptyline, flunarizine or propranolol.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ajay Panwar, Neurologist
