Should Something Be Done After Accidently Using Dettol Disinfectant Liquid As A Mouth Wash?

hello, I mistakenly used dettol disinfectant liquid as mouth wash ( bottle looks very similar), after a few seconds it hit me and I spat everything out, the product is meant for personal and home hygiene but not for mouth hygiene, I did not ingest any of it, is there something I should do?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Dettol contain chloroxyenol similar to phenol derivatives bit may mouth burn and pain. but don't worry your not consumed then it won't cause any serious side effects. Use soothing agents , avoid spicy or irritating food. If symptoms not improved please consult your physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
