Should Something Be Done About Cough And Discomfort In The Throat After Choking On A Tablet And Vomiting?

My mother 74 years old, swallowed a pill and it went down the wrong way she started choking and then vomited. It scared her she was alone. But, now she is still coughing and seems uncomfortable...could it have gone down into her lungs? She currently has a bad cold with a lot of congestion.

Hi,

The cough following checking followed by vomiting suggests irritation of throat mucus membrane giving a feel of tablet being entrapped there. But it usually does not. She had vomiting following the incidence, which might have expelled the tablet out and rubbed the throat interior causing constant irritation and cough. Give her treatment of cold by her doctor / let her continue.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
