Is There Any Negative Effect From Treatment For Trichomoniasis?
Hi,
I am 26 years old male and I have trichomoniasis vaginalis and my doctor prescribed me 2g of metrodinazole . I took metrodinazole but very next day i did mastrubation 3 times. And there is lots of burning in my penis.
.I want to ask is there any negative affect can occur on the tricho treatment?
Should i take 2g metrodinazole again ?

Hi,
Metronidazole is usually a safe drug with minimal side effects like nausea, metallic taste of tongue, dizziness, visual disturbance or confusion etc. Even, if some of these side effect is there, it is usually reversible and the unwanted effects go by themselves within some period. There is no known side effect like burning micturition with Metronidazole.
Though there is no study available on the recurrence of trichomonas infection in males on fully treated cases. Usually a single dose of metronidazole is sufficient for complete cure in males. However, if you suspect a re-infection by act of sex with new partner or you doubt that your partner, may not be completely cured of the infection, then an additional dose may be taken, if your examination confirms, presence of this infection.
