Is The Cyst Removed From The Back Of Scalp With Yellow White Appearance A Tumor ?

My 27 year old son living in another state had a cauliflower shaped golf sized cyst removed from the back of his scalp yesterday. He said it was yellow-white in appearance. From the outside before surgery, it looked to be the size of a quarter, was raised, red, and very tender to the touch. It had come on in a week's time. Is this a cyst or a tumor -- any ideas?

Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern. Cyst like structure with yellow-white color can be dermoid cyst, sebaceous cyst or some other mass. You should go for histopathological examination of that lump. It will give you exact diagnosis. Then if needed you should take further treatment accordingly.
Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
