Is Problem In The Eye Contagious?

I was recently (through a nasal swab) diagnosed with heavy growth of MRSA. Five years ago, I had it in my right eye and nowhere else. It was treated and my ophthalmologist claimed I was free and have been since (for five years). Although at the time, he did tell me that I ve been colonized . What does this recent test mean? Am I contagious to others? I have no eye infections and go regularly to my eye doctor, who says no sign of MRSA . I have grandchildren and children. Am I contagious now?

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hello
Eye infections like conjunctivitis are contagious and spread by close contact.
The mere presence of staphylococci is not contagious.
You can use antibiotic eye drops to eliminate the MRSA.
Hence I advice you to consult your doctor for examination and prescription of drugs.

Thank you
