Is Pain Upon Pressure On The Swollen Purple Nasal Bridge After An Injury A Sign Of A Concussion?

Hi. My hatchback door came down with the wind today and hit me on top part of bridge of my nose right between my eyes. It’s purple shiny and swollen but I don’t believe it’s broke. Should I be careful of a concussion. I was not knocked out but very stunned. Forehead hurts a bit. How would I know if it was fractured? I can put pressure on it without it hurting too much.

Hello,

If your nose is not swollen or cyanosed or very tender, then you do not have to worry about now. If the pain is getting worse, then you can always get a nasal bone x-ray to know if there is any fracture.

But I think there is no necessity for that, and you might rarely require some painkillers for your pains. So, do not worry at all.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana
