Does urine always contain pus cells? I ve read that pus cells in urine can be normal if the patient has no other urinary symptoms. It said normal range in male is 5-8/hpf and in female up to 10/hpf. So i want to know urine always contains pus cells?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Presence of 3-4 pus cells in urine is considered normal as there are endogenous bacteria present in the urine to keep the system clean from nature`s arrangement.

Additional contamination through specimen bottle and environmental influence play a major role in report evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
