Hi,I am Dr. Shivaprasad C (Endocrinologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My father-in-law has Wiskott-aldrich syndrome. Also his two brothers had it and have passed. My husband does not have Wiskott-aldrich syndrome. We are pregnant with a boy. Will our son still have a chance of having the disease, if my husband does not have it?

Hi, yes WAS is an X linked recessive genetic disoredr. It is transmitted by carrier females or affected fathers. Since the father is not affected by this disease, and the mother is completely normal, there are no chances that this disease will be transmitted to the baby boy. This disease although can be transmitted to your baby girl but she wont manifest any symptom and she will be a carrier only. Thanks and regards.
