Thanks for using healthcaremagic.I understand your query.
Brief answer: A sensitive and specific test which usually picks the possible infection.
Detailed answer:
If i am your family physician, would reassure you and say not be scared or worried absolutely as your serial ELISA test reports were normal (which are 99% sensitive and specific in detecting a possible HIV infection).Confirmatory tests like western blot,HIV PCR tests are needed for ELISA test positive cases. However I would advise you to get evaluated by a local doctor to rule out other causes of weight loss also like nutrient deficiency, any chronic illness etc.Hope i have answered your query. If any other questions, happy to answer you.Take care.

Hi,

Welcome to HCM.

I understand your concern but ELISA test is accurate if done in an authentic lab. The strategy used in HIV testing is that two consecutive test results should show negative results to confirm the HIV status as negative. If all your test results have shown negative results till now, you are definitely HIV negative.
Quit worrying unnecessarily and be careful in the future.
Thanks.
