Is DDAVP Effective In The Treatment Of Frequent Urination At Night?

Hello, I am taking care of my 89 year old mother. She gets up to urinate 5-7 times at night. I have gone to her primary and behavior health dr and nothing is working. I am trying to keep her active during the day but that dosent help either. I have had a urinalysis everything is fine no issues. Wondering if DDAVP could help. Thank You, Carolyn

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

DDAVP , is pretty effective in reducing urination.
However, should be used only as last resort, and after any pathological causes are ruled out which you have already done, so yes it can be used in such cases , it works, she should advise not to take liquids , ( water ,coffee, or any drinks,) in the night and late noon.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr Rahman
