How To Treat Gastro-intestinal Virus Infection?

I am curious as to why my son, who is just getting over a week long battle with his first gastro-intestinal virus, has suddenly completely changed his personality. I just keep hoping he"ll get back to normal, it"s been a week and 2 days since the first vomit struck. Appetite is very poor and he is being very nasty (he's only 3) Any advice??

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

A loss of fluids and electrolytes as well as weakness from the illness itself may be causing the change noted.

He should return to his normal self when he has fully recovered.

His appetite will return as he continues to get better, it would be important to make sure he uses enough fluids even if he does not want to eat.

I hope this helps
