Hello,

It depends on the type of infection. If viral, it is self-limiting and will regress in due course of time. If allergic then oral Levocetirizine can be taken in the morning for ten days. Along with it, Cromal eye drop can be applied three times a day for cross-infection of the unaffected eye is a must. With treatment, it can be prevented, if infected due treatment should be given.

Ophthalmologist Dr. Harshita's  Response
Hello,

Most of the conjunctivitis is viral in nature and it heals it maximum one week. If it doesn't we can take a conjunctival swab and culture that to see which organism is there and then prescribe medicines accordingly. Please maintain a proper hygiene and frequent hand washing. You can apply an antibiotic ointment in the night to prevent any morning stickiness.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshita
