How Long Can A Rivastigmine Transdermal Patch Be Used For The Treatment Of Dementia?

My Dad had been treated for mild dementia for the past 3 years with Rivastigmine transdermal patch. He started with the lowest dose but is receiving 13.3mg/ 24 hours for a year.
This is the highest dosage amount.
How do I know when to change this medication and what would be a suggestion for something else.
Dad is 81 years strong young, walks daily ambulatory without assistance.

Hi,

It is all the symptoms tell us about the recovery, or information being given by the treating physician when to come for follow up and their doctor take the decision what to do with the line of treatment.

At the age of 81 with the disease like dementia patient has to take the medicine for a long time, still, the clinical examination can reveal something about the recovery so we can know whether to change the medicine or stop it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
