How Can Weakness Of Legs And Diarrhea In An Elderly Person Treated?
My father, who is currently 73 years old, has lost 20 kgs of weight in the last 6 months, mostly from the lower body, and is unable to walk now becase his legs are too weak to support him. He is eating normally. He has been suffering from loose motions for some time. What specialist should I take him to?
Hi, Thanks for asking. Based on your query, my opinion is as follows. 1. Due to diarrhea and associated reduced nutrition, he has become weak. 2. Evaluation of diarrhea is important. Do get a stool examination and a colonoscopy done. Also get a complete hemogram done. 3. You can meet a gastrointestinal specialist for evaluation of cause of diarrhea. Once its under control, he will improve. Hope it helps. Any further queries, happy to help again.
