So I went to the er and I had no symptoms of strep throat but they did the test anyway and it came out positive.. The only symptom I had was I was choking on what felt like my tonsils were swollen but Its not what I thought it was..it felt more like I had a ball in the middle. Of my throat and I keep gaging and chokimg on it cause it was cutting off my airway. So now I am home and I am feeling the same way. What do you think is wrong?
Strep throat can cause enlargement of the tonsils. It occurs as a result of the inflammatory response in the tonsils. The swelling would make it difficult to swallow. A course of antibiotics is usually needed to treat this infection.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
