How Can Severe Back Pain And Difficulty In Urinating Be Treated?

My 92 year old dad is having severe back pain and trouble urinating. His gall bladdar is removed but he has a history of stones in the duct. He was checked for stones a couple months ago due to symptoms but they did not conclude anything after the procedure. They said his esophagus was too narrow to proceed - what? he had this procedure two other times successfully finding the stones. Now he is back to suffering.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

If he have stone in the biliary system or cholangitis may be diagnosed with enteroscopy retrograde cholangio pancreaticography in which tube pass through esophagus. But if it is narrowed means probably he may deveoped stricture or varicose veins or achalasia cardia. Back pain again where is it lumbar region or renal area or loin? Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. need ultrasound abdomen, x-ray lumbar spine and urine examination. Use tablet mefenamic acid 500 twice a day for five days. Please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
