doctor, i was put on lithium 450 milligrams many years ago for anxiety by a psychiatrist. I developed a severe foot infection this year for an ingrown nail the doctor put me on motrin for pain. twice a day. the pain was so severe I may have taken more. When I WENT TO SEND IN MY BLOOD FOR A LITHIUM LEVEL THE EMRGENCY ROOM TOLD ME TO GO TO THE HOSPITSL TO GET DRAINED BECAUSE LITHIUM WAS TOO HIGH . I HAD TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL FOR SEVERAL DAYS TO GET CLEANED OUT . NOW I HAD DEVELOPED SYMPTOMS LIKE CONFUSION AND FLOATING OR DIZI9NESS. Am I PERMANENTLY DRAIN DAMAGED OR AM I OK. i HAD ALOT OF TESTS AND SCANS AND THEY CAME OK . BUT I AM TERRIFIED I MAY NOT BE PLEASE HELP. MIKE SHOHET

Lithium is unlikely to cause any long-term brain damage. You can put your mind at ease about that. You could talk to your psychiatrist about changing the drug you are using for your anxiety to something like sertraline, if you have not tried it before.
With respect to the in grown toe nail, you could get a surgeon to remove it for you.
