Can The Dosage Of Venlafaxine Be Reduced To Half While Not Experiencing Anxiety Or Depression?

I am presently on 75 mg of venlafaxine once daily. I am taking this once a day with 4 other medications for Parkinson s. I have an appointment with my neurologist in two weeks. I have a problem with getting an erection. I d like to ask my Dr. about taking the 37.5 mg once a day. What s your opinion. I do not feel anxious or depressed. I am a 67 year old male. When talking with other Parkinson s patients in my exercise glass it seems like I m the only one taking venlafaxine. THANK YOU

Hello,

Erectile dysfunction is the side effect of Venlafaxine. Try switching to an antidepressant with least sexual side effects like Bupropion. Please follow up with your treating physician for the necessary change.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regard,
Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal
