How Can Arthritis And Cartilage Deterioration In The Knees Be Treated?

I m almost 81 and have a bad knee (arthritis and cartilage deterioration) and am trying to avoid replacement. Is hyrolanonic (sp) acid bad for someone my age? (I m healthy and walk about an hour a day, but it hurts). Are repeated injections necessary?

Hello.
For you condition, hyaluronic acid can be a safer help for you knee: usually several injections are necessary, depending on your answer to the therapy. hyaluronic acid is often used in people of your age because it has no systemic effects.
It is important to know that hyaluronic acid unfortunately can not solve your knee problem, and, sooner or later, you might have to go under surgery.
You can also have injections of cortisone, which is a potent anti-inflammatory drug: it can help you with your pain and to postpone the surgery.
