How Can An Infected Foot Be Treated?

IS IT OK TO BE ON A DIERETIC AND ANTIBIOTICS AT THE SAME TIME? I AM CURRENTLY ON DOXY-CYCLINE AND BACTRIM FOR A FOOT INFECTION AND I THINK BY HAVING WATER BEING TRAPPED DOWN THERE IT IS SLOWING THE HEALING PROCESS OF THE SKIN. WOULD IT BE POSSIBLE TO GET A PRESCRPTION FOR THE DIARETIC TO GET RID OF THE WATER AND STILL BE ON THESE MEDS AND IF SO WHAT DIARETIC WOULD YOU RECCOMEND?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Diuretics can be taken with antibiotics. However, I think the diuretic is unnecessary in your case as the infection might be the reason for the swelling.

Once the infection is appropriately controlled, the swelling will go down.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal
