How Can Agitation And Insomnia While Suffering From COPD Be Treated?
My mother is 88 years old and has COPD, AFib, Congestive heart failure and High blood pressure. She is controlled by taking all her medication. I noticed she is becoming more agitated at night and not able to sleep. Her Seroquel was increased from 50 mg to 75 mg at night. She has become more tired, sleepy throughout the day confused and has lost her appetite. She usually was alert, happy and eating well. I noticed a change in her since the increase in the past 4 days. I am afraid that this change is due to the increase. Should I have them lower the dose to 50 mg again or slowly wean her off Seroquel and find another med for her agitation and insomnia.

Drowsiness may be may be due to carbon-dioxide retention or urinary sepsis or meningitis or electrolyte imbalance etc. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Please consult your physician he will examine and investigate and treat her accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
