What Causes Purplish Skin Discoloration Around The Hands During Fever, Sore Throat And Cough?

Hello, my daughter came home from school today with a fever (100.6), chills, and purpleish skin showing with her wrists and hands. She also has a sore throat and mild cough. Apart from the hand/wrist discoloration, it seems like cold or flu. However, I haven t seen skin discoloration before so I wanted to ask someone.

Hi,

For cough and cold she can be prescribed levocetirizine like anti histaminic decongestant medication.

However, bruise could not develop due to that. You can apply topical vitamin K cream over that bruise.

If a bruise doesn't resolve in a week than investigate with PT, APTT estimation, sgpt, CBC for primary workup.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
