Having Occasional Drinking And Smoking Habits. How Can I Gain Weight In A Healthy Manner?

Hello Sir, I'm a 23 year old male, 6 ft tall and weigh 58 kgs. I want to gain weight in a healthy manner and want a good physique. Since I've played tennis and soccer at a competitive level, i have a lean athletic build. I stay at a hostel so maintaining proper diet becomes difficult. I have bee, smoking for the past 9 years but have reduced it significantly over the past few months. I drink and smoke marijuana occasionally. But have quit them too. Please help me.

Hi and thanks for the query,
Gaining weight should be healthy as you rightly put it. However, it is important to note that certain people genetically are predisposed not to be very fat or big. It might therefore not be necessary to force in gaining extra kilos, which in the long run could pose you serious problems on the contrary. I strongly think that the best thing to do is book an appointment with a nutritionist for proper nutritional advice. A proper healthy diet is actually what you need, not engaging in unhealthy feeding practices to put on weight. Thanks and kind regards,
Bain MD
