Eyes Are Becoming Black And Blue After Hitting My Forehead Against A Metal Hand Rail

Hi my 7 yr.old was swimming in a pool and was doing flips and then hit his forehead against a metal hand rail in the pool. I iced the area and watch over my son . He felt fine after being out of pool approx. 15 min. A few days later I noticed that his eyes were becoming Black and blue. Is this a normal sign?

HELLO
It seems from the history that your 7 year old son got a hit against metal hand rail in pool, following which he is having eye lids turning black and blue.
This is because of collection of blood under the skin of the eyelids as a result of impact of the injury. The change in colour of the skin is normal as the blood starts to get absorbed the colour slowly turns to normal and this may take 4-6 weeks.

If there is no other associated injury other than black eye then no need to worry.

Thank you
