Dose Chlamydia Infection Spread Through Sexual Intercourse?

I was told that I have chlamydia. I did not inform my partner about it. I got treated and when i went back for the results my doctor told me it was gone. Now am a bit puzzled because after the one week that i finished my medication i had sexual intercourse with my same partner. Then i went for my second check up. When the results came back my doctor told me it was gone. I was still curious to see if it was truly gone, so a year later i went to a different doctor to check if i had chlamydia. I called the clinic because no one contact me and they told me everything is ok. Now am confused because i have been having unprotected sex with my same partner. So if i had chlamydia wouldn't he be infected as well?

Hello. Thank you for writing to us

Chlamydia trachomatis is transmitted sexually i.e it is an STD.
If you have been sexually active with the same sexual partner then in every likely hood you must have got it from him.
However there are a few possibilities that should be considered over here.
No test is 100% accurate.
There is a small chance for a test to be positive even when you don't have chlamydia. This is called a false positive test result.
Therefore it is a possibility that you never had chlamydia and your positive test just showed a false positive result.
There is another possibility that your sexual partner could have got infection from someone else, gave it to you and then probably was prescribed antibiotics for some unrelated condition and that would have cleared it up.

Regards
Hope this helps!
