Do Pain, Swelling And Discharge From The Eyes Due To Corneal Abrasion Need Immediate Medical Attention?

Thank you. I got something in my eye yesterday and I think I scratched the cornea. My eye is very swollen, red and tearing. I rinsed it out last night and several times today but have a little bit of discharge and sometimes pain and discomfort. Does that sound normal? Not sure if I should see a doctor tomorrow.

Hi,

You should see one. Mostly, they will patch your eye for 12 hours and it should get normal after that.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshita,
Ophthalmologist
