Do Insomnia, Poor Memory And Acid Reflux Indicate Vitamin B12 Deficiency?
I have a son 19 yoa. He has insomnia, acid reflux (takes prescribe med), low energy, and poor memory. He also seems to have trouble focusing on a subject for extended period of time (such as studying for a test). Could this be something as simple as a vitamin B-12 deficiency? He has had a blood work up which ruled out thyroid issues which run in mother s side of the family. Could you suggest possible solutions?
hello and thank you for asking! I can understand your concern regarding to your son's health. Thyroid pathologies are the most common cause of the symptoms of described. He should check thyroid function ; TSH, F4 and Ft3 to find out if the thyroid is over or underactive. After the results we can decide about the treatment. VIt B12 deficiency is an autoimmune pathology that should be treated with vit B12 injections depending on VIt B12 level. It may cause low energy too. Will be a pleasure to help you further. Best wishes, Dr.Mirjeta
