Could Purple Spots Arising After Minor Abrasion Indicate Deficiency ?

I am 65 years old. For several years whenever I receive even the most minor abrasion I am left with unsightly purple spots that remain for about a week before disappearing completely. I know what causes them yet wonder if I am not suffering some deficiency that might be rectified by some dietary supplement. Thank you for your help.

Hi,
Welcome to HCM!

This is Dr. Sridhar and I shall be answering your question.

Well, it appears that you are suffering from deficiency of clotting factors.
Clotting factors are certain substances present in our blood which help to clot the blood and hence reduce blood loss.
It's deficiency results in failure to clot blood, resulting in formation of the spots that you have mentioned.

I'd suggest you to visit a PATHOLOGIST and get your blood tests done, as directed by your treating doctor. Upon receiving the results, your treating doctor would be able to decide your further course of treatment.

Hope this answers your query. Feel free to ask if you have any doubts.

If not, you may close the discussion and rate my answer.

Wish you good health.
With regards,
Dr. Sridhar
