Could Being Touched By An HIV Person Increase My Risk Of Contracting HIV?

I was touched by a beggar in india who was having runny nose, now i dont remember seeing any blood but after 5-6 seconds i rubbed my eyes. I am very worried if he had blood in his nose secretion and rubbed it with hands that touched me, i could catch the hiv-virus?

Hello,

HIV is spread by blood-to-blood contact, unprotected sexual contact and congenital spread during childbirth. You should not get infected by HIV since the contact time was less. Moreover, you will not get HIV unless you put your hand in HIV blood. Do not worry you will not be HIV positive.

HIV does not spread by hugging, shaking hands or through mosquito or insect bites. However, if you are too tensed then you are advised to get connected with a local doctor (health care provider) and request for HIV PEP, or post-exposure prophylaxis. It is a short course of medicines that are given with 72 hours of possible exposure to HIV.
